Finger Alarm App Reviews
The site says its totally intuitive. Well, Ive been working in software ergonomics long enough to know that its not just me. Its not inuitive. As an example, while I was first trying it I set an alarm. I turned it off. Well even when the little bells are subdued, I get an alarm coming from nowhere every day (well, thats more of a bug than an ergonomic issue, actually). Its missing a very basic thing: remember placement on restart. Its kind of bugging to have to place the desktop clock every time. Skins are mostly ugly, and theyre not really skins, theyre styles (only the contour changes colors or pattern). The Yellow/day, black/night scheme for the inside of the clocks is pointless and if you dont like a bright yellow clock in your face youre out of luck. Like I said, on the ergonomics side its poor. At least tooltips would be nice. Oh and designwise, the upside down numbers is strange and somewhat disturbing. Again, if there were true skins, there could be some like this, some other ways. I realise its cheap. But through how many 2$ will I have to get through to find something useful? Now, with this AP, anyone with good marketing skills and flashy screen shots can sell half-baked software... Not good!!!
You have to click on the minute or hour hands to set the alarm. This isnt an easy task. Most of the time, you just end up clicking beside it and moving the whole clock around the desktop. I was very disapointed and deleted the program.
simplicity at its best
So simple its fun, just like any Apple product.
Great Simple App
That great. I really like the alarm. Its looks really cool. Well done.
needs a little update : 1. the application is to big on the screen, it must be possible to zoom it from very small to big 2.there must be a possibility to choose from different alarm typs when it rings 3. it must be possible to preselect songs from the i tunes library as an alarm
Great app, easy to use and understand! Various themes provided enrich the experience and it does exactly what its suppose to do and more. Works smoothly and it is the best alarm clock ive used to date. Highly recommended!
Nice designs!
Good choices for colors and theme. Really easy to use.
Few improvements can make it excellent app. 1) make it adjustable. it looks fine on my 2 x 24" LCDs mac pro but takes up too much real estate on my MBA. 2) Ability to choose alarm style as well as maybe ability to choose an itunes song.
This app is great, I really like it. I just wish it was a little more advanced toward choosing what days each alarm would be for. I only need two, as this has, but my Monday, Wednesday, and Friday wakeup times are different from my Tuesday and Thursday. But its not such a huge deal to just make sure I have the right one set each night. Its easier than what I had before, and for that, I am grateful. =) @kalex1 and anyone else who may have the same concern about choosing songs: If you have selected to have iTunes play when the alarm goes off, one of these things will happen: •If your iTunes is closed, it will open and play the first song in your library. (The song at the top of your main library, depending on how you have it sorted; Name, Artist, Album, Date Added, etc.) Or •You actually can select what song you want to play at the alarm, if you have iTunes open already, and leave it open. If you have a playlist open, it will start playing that playlist, starting with the first song. Or, if you have a song paused already, it will play that song from the beginning. All this requires is that you leave your iTunes open. Otherwise it will just play the first song in your library, as stated above.
Weak
Wont wake your Mac from sleep. What good is that
LOVE IT!!!!! I needed an alarm because my phone crashed and I had no alarm. This gets me up every morning right on time so I never have to worry. I love the fact it pulls music from my itunes to wake me up.
Great layout. Really good looking. Wow!!!! And great concept. Dont get what the separate clock is for since it displays the same as the center clock and is visible at the same times and cant be set to a different time. Would prefer to be able to set clock separately than your feed and separately than my mac system time. Would prefer to be able to select iTunes playlist for alarm as their are many tracks in my iTunes folder that I would not appreciate being awakened to.
I did not expect anything like this!
Wow this is one sweet finger operated alarm. Thanks for the code.
i bought this b/c it was the cheapest alarm i could find. but it is so unreliable. Ive tried configuring it b4 i go 2 bed, setting it a minute ahead of the current time and testing it. that wprks sometimes. but everytime my mac goes n sleep mode, the alarm never goes off. even after ive tested it and set everything correctly. the only thing i like is it pulls music from iTunes.
Well Designed - Except ….
It does not wake my macbook pro from sleep - maybe mine gets into a deep sleep?
Does not talk to iTunes
I purchased and tested this item. It dows not communicate with iTunes, and there does not seem to be any preferences to enable that to happen.
This was one of the first apps I got when I replaced my old MacBook Pro last year. It served its purpose well until it stopped showing up on the Dock as an active application and I can not cmd+tab to it. I also wish that there was a better way of setting the time instead of trying to position the cursor in just the right spot to turn the hands.
The Hour hand does not move making it confusing at visual sight. Plus when my computer goes into sleep mode the clock sieces to run. So when it, ( my computer ), comes back up the time is wrong. Seems like yawl would have some type of Quality Control and check them out before you put them out there for us to purchase. Wish I could get my money back on this one for sure.
